Our Story
Founded in 1950, Minnis Bay Sailing Club has been a cornerstone of the Kent sailing community for over 75 years. What started as a small group of enthusiastic sailors has grown into a thriving club that welcomes sailors of all abilities and backgrounds.
Located on the beautiful Thanet coast, our club offers some of the finest sailing waters in Southeast England. The sheltered bay provides perfect conditions for learning, while the open waters beyond offer exciting challenges for experienced sailors.
We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, family-friendly club where sailing is accessible to everyone. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned racer, you'll find a warm welcome and plenty of opportunities to enjoy your time on the water.
Our Sailing Waters
Perfect Conditions
Minnis Bay offers ideal sailing conditions with its sheltered waters and consistent breezes. The bay is protected from the worst of the weather while still providing exciting sailing opportunities.
Our launching area features a concrete slipway and ample space for rigging boats. The tidal range is manageable, making it safe for sailors of all experience levels to enjoy the water.
Safe Environment
Safety is our top priority. We have qualified safety boat crews on duty during club activities, and our location provides natural shelter from rough seas. The gradual depth profile makes it an excellent location for training new sailors.

We're easily accessible by car with parking available near the clubhouse. The nearest train station is Birchington-on-Sea, which is approximately 1.5 miles away.
Facilities
Our clubhouse features changing rooms, showers, a kitchen, and social areas. We have a secure compound for boat storage and a well-equipped workshop for maintenance.
